What Comes in an Excellart Sign Cabinet Kit

What comes in an Excellart Sign Products sign cabinet kit depends on the type of cabinet you order. A rigid face kit, hinged rigid face kit, and flex face kit all include the parts needed for that cabinet style, but the components are not exactly the same.

The video above walks through the typical kit contents. This article breaks down the main sign cabinet kit components so you know what to expect before the box gets to the shop.

Standard Rigid Face Kit Components

A standard rigid face kit typically includes four pieces of frame, corner angles, retainer pieces, and an assembly instruction guide.

For a square or rectangular cabinet, the four frame pieces come pre-mitered to the ordered dimensions. That saves time during assembly because the major frame cuts are already handled before the kit reaches your shop.

The corner angles seat into the frame and help bring the cabinet together during assembly. The retainer pieces hold the rigid face in place, and the assembly instruction guide gives the shop a reference while building the kit.

Hinged Rigid Face Kit Components

Rigid face cabinets can also be built as hinged cabinets.

A hinged rigid face kit changes the setup so the face can pivot open for access instead of being removed entirely. This is useful when the cabinet needs a more service-friendly opening point.

A hinged rigid face kit typically includes four pieces of hinged frame, three standard retainer pieces, and one hinge section for the top.

The top hinge section allows the face to swing open from the top, giving the shop or service team access without removing the full face.

Flex Face Kit Components

Flex face kits include additional components that are not part of a standard rigid face kit.

Instead of a rigid face retainer setup, a flex face kit uses flex clips and trim. The flex clips secure and tension the flex face around the cabinet, while the trim finishes the face edge.

ESP offers two trim options for flex face kits: Standard Trim and Bleed Trim.

Standard Trim covers some of the flex face around the perimeter. Bleed Trim creates a cleaner, trimless look on the flex face.

Frame Series and Retainer Width

Before ordering a sign cabinet kit, confirm the frame series and retainer width.

In the video, Garrett shows a 12-series frame as the example. The 12-series is about 12” wide with retainers, and other retainer combinations can extend that width even further.

That matters because the final cabinet depth and retainer setup depend on the frame series and retainer style you choose. The kit contents stay familiar, but the exact profile and retainer configuration will change based on the cabinet you order.
